DaysofPal- A Gaza-based human rights organization has condemned the field execution of two Palestinian men by an armed militia operating under Israeli military protection east of Rafah.
The incident sparked outrage after gruesome images emerged showing the moment of their killing.
In a statement released Sunday evening, the Gaza Center for Human Rights said the militia, positioned in an area fully controlled by the Israeli army, announced that it had carried out a “revolutionary sentence” against Montaser Abu Samak and Mujahid Abu Susin.
The organization stressed that the act constitutes extrajudicial killing, carried out without any form of legal process or fair trial.
The center said the publication of the photos in such a graphic manner demonstrates “a clear intent to terrorize and intimidate civilians.”
It added that this is the second time the same militia has released images of Palestinians it executed on the spot, calling it a blatant assault on human dignity and further evidence of the absence of accountability or legal oversight.
According to the statement, the militia operates in a militarized zone protected by Israeli forces and has previously been implicated in killings, kidnappings, and armed robberies targeting Palestinians.
This, the center argued, makes the group part of the larger Israeli occupation system and places direct legal responsibility on the Israeli occupation.
The Gaza Center for Human Rights said the killing violates Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, classifying it as a war crime that requires both individual and international accountability.
It also held states supplying weapons, equipment, and logistical support to the militia responsible for enabling such acts.
The organization called for an urgent, independent international investigation into the executions and all associated abuses committed by the militia.
It urged international bodies and governments to publicly denounce the violations and to halt the transfer of arms to such groups, describing this as a legal and moral obligation.
The statement warned that allowing these militias to operate under Israeli protection fuels a dangerous climate of impunity, paving the way for further targeted killings of Palestinians without restraint.
