DaysofPal- One hundred days after the ceasefire agreement came into effect, residents of the Gaza Strip continue to endure severe hardship, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned, as limited aid deliveries fall far short of addressing the territory’s mounting humanitarian needs.
In a statement, the ICRC said Gaza’s population remains trapped in a cycle of suffering, stressing the urgent need to end all violence and ensure the sustained delivery of humanitarian assistance. The organization noted that harsh weather conditions have further compounded daily struggles for survival, particularly for displaced families living in makeshift shelters.
The warning comes despite announcements of progress toward a second phase of the ceasefire agreement and the formation of a national committee to manage Gaza’s affairs. Aid groups say these political developments have yet to translate into tangible improvements in living conditions for the population.
Against this backdrop, France announced it is dispatching hundreds of tons of food aid to the besieged enclave. The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said a container ship carrying 383 tons of nutritional assistance departed the port of Le Havre on Sunday, bound for Gaza.
According to the ministry, the aid is intended to improve the health of more than 42,000 children between the ages of six months and two years who are suffering from malnutrition. The shipment consists of nutritional supplements to be administered at a rate of one daily dose for six months, aimed at preventing severe acute malnutrition, ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavre said.
The vessel is expected to arrive at Egypt’s Port Said within approximately ten days, after which the World Food Programme will oversee the transport of the supplies into Gaza.
French President Emmanuel Macron said in a post on X that “France is mobilizing all its efforts to support the people of Gaza.” The French Foreign Ministry also stressed the need for Israel to remove all obstacles preventing the United Nations and humanitarian organizations from delivering aid independently and impartially across all areas of the Gaza Strip.
On the ground, incidents have continued despite the ceasefire. A source at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City reported that three Palestinians were injured by fire from an Israeli drone that targeted a group of young men near the car market in the Zeitoun neighborhood.
In a separate incident, two Palestinians were wounded by Israeli gunfire outside designated deployment zones in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. The injured were transferred to Nasser Hospital for treatment.
