The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said in a statement that Al-Khatib was able to talk with the female prisoners’ representative, Marah Bakir, who clarified through her testimony the details of what happened with them.
Bakir said that last Monday, January 30, 2023, Israeli repressive units of the prison administration stormed three rooms, room (11, 9, 2) in the female prisoners section, and provocative searches were conducted in those rooms.
She added that after the completion of the inspection, female prisoners began to shout loudly as they also burned two rooms in protest against the practices and procedures of the Israeli prison administration against them.
Female prisoners’ representative, Yasmine Shaaban, was isolated in another prison, who later turned out to be held in the cells of Neve Tirza Prison in Ramla.
Bakir added that during the barbaric raid and search, the prison administration deliberately cut off electricity from morning until evening, and disabled televisions, which are still not working until now.
During these raids, there were among the female prisoners who refused to leave the section, so the repression units deliberately dragged them outside, which led to the fall of their hijab off their heads.
It is recalled that the assault on Palestinian female prisoners led them declaring rebellion in all prisons and detention centers, and the situation is still in escalating tension, especially after the Israeli extremist Ben Gvir’s statements extending the Palestinian prisoners’ suffering.
