The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies (PCPS) stated Monday, April 10, 2023, that the Israeli occupation forces detained 700 Palestinian citizens from Jerusalem, including 110 children and 24 women and girls, during the first quarter of the current year.
PCPS confirmed that since the beginning of the year, the extremist occupation government escalated its targeting of Jerusalemites in many ways, including abuse and oppression, detentions, summons, financial fines, deportation, and house arrest.
The Center indicated that the Israeli forces have detained 700 Palestinian, 44% of the total arrests in the occupied Palestinian territories during the first quarter of this year, which reached 1600.
Riyad Al-Ashkar, director of the center, explained that the Israeli occupation targets Jerusalemites in particular to break their steadfastness, deter them from defending the holy city and confronting the escalating incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, and empty the city of its original Palestinian people.
