Hundreds of Palestinians protested Friday, September 9, 2022 against Israeli measures to ethnically cleanse almost 1,400 Palestinian families in the occupied Palestinian city of Jaffa.
The protesters brandished placards denouncing the Israeli plot to displace hundreds of indigenous Palestinian families from their homes in favor of Israeli settler organizations under the so-called “absentee property law.”
“They [Israelis] are betting on our submission, but we have not and will not surrender, thus they will fail in their plans to displace and deport us, while we are holding on to our land and our culture,” Omar Saksak, a Palestinian living in the city and a participant in the protest declared.
During the 1948 Zionist occupation of historic Palestine, which became known as the Nakba (catastrophe), the majority of Jaffa’s Palestinian residents were forced to leave the city in a barbaric way. However, a community of about 15,000 Palestinians who now have Israeli citizenship are still present in their ancestral homeland.
