A Palestinian prisoner from Bir Al-Basha village, south of Jenin, entered today, Friday, his nineteenth consecutive year in the occupation prisons.
The Palestinian Prisoner Club in Jenin, said that the prisoner, Izzat Amin Ghawadra (42 years), from the town of Bir Al-Basha, south of Jenin, has entered his nineteenth year in captivity.
The Prisoner Club added that the occupation arrested the prisoner, Ghawadara, on April 23, 2003, while he was participating with his comrades in confronting the occupation during the storming of the city of Jenin, where he was shot above his right knee, and he was transferred to one of the hospitals of Jenin for treatment, then the occupation stormed the hospital and arrested him, after which the occupation authorities sentenced him to two life imprisonments, in addition to 35 years of imprisonment.
According to Palestinian estimates, there are 4,400 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including 39 women and 155 children, and around 350 being held under Israel’s administrative detention policy, which allows holding Palestinians without charge or trial.
