Days of Palestine – Occupied Jerusalem
On Saturday, a senior Israeli official announced the study of huge projects between "Tel Aviv" and Abu Dhabi, including the construction of a railway linking the UAE with the port of Haifa, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Avi Simhon, head of the Economic Council in the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said in an interview with the Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" that the projects focus on large infrastructures of a strategic nature, indicating that the railway is supposed to pass through Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
He pointed out that what increases the chances of implementing this project is that a large part of the railway line is currently in place, but it lacks the inauguration of 200-300 kilometers in Jordan only, believing that this achievement will allow the transport of goods from "Israel" to the UAE within a day or two, other than the 12-day container transport via the Suez Canal.
He explained that the project allows the transportation of fresh agricultural products, which are products that the UAE lacks due to climatic conditions, stressing that the United States is interested in completing such projects, given its economic returns to all countries in the region, including Jordan most in need of economic assistance.
