Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that the Israeli occupation authorities demolished or confiscated 26 buildings owned by Palestinians in Area (C) and occupied Jerusalem, claiming to lack building permits, during the past two weeks.
In the "Protection of Civilians" report, which covers between March 2-15, 2021, the office stated that the demolitions had displaced 42 people, including 24 children, and caused damage to about 120 others.
It added that 17 of them were demolished in Area C, and two were demolished in the village of Ein Shibli in the Nablus governorate, which led to the displacement of 17 people, based on Military Order No. 1797, which authorizes the implementation of demolitions within 96 hours of the issuance of the "removal order."
It also indicated that the remaining displacement operations resulted from the demolition of four homes in the Al-Tuwani and Khallet Al-Dabaa communities in Hebron, and in Beit Jala in Bethlehem.
The report pointed out that the livelihoods of 20 people were damaged as a result of the demolition of a vegetable station near the city of Qalqilya, while 16 others were affected by the demolition of two uninhabited homes and the confiscation of a metal container in Asteh in Jericho Governorate, and two of the nine targeted buildings were demolished in Jerusalem by their owner.
According to the report; during the past two weeks, the Israeli occupation forces carried out 193 search and arrest operations and arrested 172 Palestinians, including 15 children, in various parts of the West Bank.
It was mentioned that Ramallah governorate recorded the highest number of these operations (48), followed by Hebron (37) and Jerusalem (35) governorates.
It pointed out that during the aforementioned period, the Israeli occupation forces injured 62 Palestinians, including nine children, in various parts of the West Bank.
"Attackers known or believed to be Israeli settlers injured six Palestinians in the Hebron governorate, and damaged Palestinian property, including vehicles and trees," the report affirmed.
In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces fired "warning" fire on at least 29 occasions near the border fence or off the coast, claiming to impose restrictions on access, which resulted in the injury of two fishermen and damaging their boat.
