Days of Palestine – Gaza
The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) member, Ahmed Bahar, announced on Wednesday, the launch of the international parliamentary campaign, "Parliamentarians Against Normalization," as a sincere expression of the will of the peoples who reject normalization with the Israeli occupation.
According to a statement by the Media Department of the Legislative Council, parliamentarians from more than 30 countries around the world participated in the campaign, which was launched in cooperation and coordination with the Association of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem, during an international electronic conference.
"We will work together to activate all Arab, Islamic, and international parliamentary efforts and energies to face normalization with the Israeli occupation and all those who conspire against our cause and our sanctities," Bahar said.
He added: "This broad campaign aims to mobilize parliamentary efforts at the level of the world to stand united and make the mobility of the current parliamentary legal and legislative capable of facing the normalization approach."
He explained, "The campaign also aims to put pressure on governments and various international forums to assume their political, legal, moral and humanitarian responsibilities in the face of normalization."
"Normalization with Israel robs the Palestinian people of their rights and freedom guaranteed by international and humanitarian covenants and laws, and undermines the foundations of security and stability in the region," He declared.
He indicated that the campaign developed a clear plan and a comprehensive program to activate the Arab and international parliamentary role in the face of normalization, and it will begin a set of steps and procedures related to the campaign in the coming days.
He stated, "It is also not clear to anyone the size of the major dangers that afflict our Arab and Islamic nation at the core as a result of the process of normalization with the Israeli occupation."
"These agreements open the gates of Arab capitals to the Israeli zionist and American hegemony over the capabilities and resources of our nation and striking the elements of strength, will, and steadfastness in it, and crushing the foundations and concepts of its national security, without achieving any interest at all," he added.
He called for establishing a unified parliamentary strategy capable of forming effective and influential parliamentary positions and policies around the world and issuing decisions, laws, and legislation to criminalize normalization within Arab, Islamic and international parliaments.
Meanwhile, he stressed the need for fairness to the Palestinian people for their just national cause.
He called on the nation’s scholars to issue fatwas clarifying the religious position on normalization, and the Arab League to condemn normalization and suspend the membership of any country that normalizes with the Israeli occupation.
He as well drew attention to the necessity of activating the law of the Arab boycott of the Zionist occupation, which was approved by the Arab League Council in its 22nd session on December 11, 1954.
Bahar emphasized that the stage of sinful normalization with the Israeli occupation and compatibility with the American-Zionist plans, will fail with the efforts of parliamentarians, and its owners will not reap from behind it anything but the curse of their people and the history throughout the years.
For his part, the President of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem Association, Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar, said: "A sincere expression of the will of the peoples showed by the representatives, who stand strongly against normalization, and are looking for resisting injustice and obtaining the rights of the Palestinian people."
He explained that Parliamentarians for the Jerusalem Association will hold seminars, meetings, and events that serve the parliamentarians' campaign against normalization.
Sheikh Al-Ahmar stressed the need to mobilize parliamentary energies to implement laws that criminalize normalization and block the road to the false Zionist narrative.
He appreciated the governments and parliaments that reject normalization and the projects to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
He explained that "the right is never lost, and that free parliamentarians must be as confrontational and responsible, and that rights will not be lost, no matter how lazy those who fail are."
At the end of the conference, a memorandum for launching the international parliamentary campaign “Parliamentarians Against Normalization” was signed. It is also noteworthy that the Legislative Council organized a Twitter campaign in conjunction with the conference to reject and condemn normalization with the Israeli occupation.
