The General Department for Explosives Engineering in the Palestinian Police in Khan Yunis Governorate south of the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning dealt with a number of suspicious objects in different areas of the governorate.
Major Muhammad Abu Shamala, Director of Explosives Engineering Police in Khan Yunis Governorate, said that the police received a call from a citizen stating that a suspicious object was inside an agricultural pond in the Khuzaa area east of Khan Yunis Governorate south of the Gaza Strip.
"The engineering crews dealt with the suspicious object, which turned out to be a 155mm caliber artillery shell left over from the Israeli occupation," Abu Shamala affirmed, the crews neutralized and moved the suspicious object to a safe location.
He pointed out that the explosives engineering crews in Khan Yunis dealt with an 80 mm artillery shell left over from the Israeli occupation in the Al-Farahin area in the east of the governorate.
Major Abu Shamala called on citizens not to deal with any suspicious objects that are found, and to communicate immediately with the Palestinian police in order to remove them through specialized teams.
