Prisoners in Israeli jails in dire need for winter blankets and clothing

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said the prisoners in Megiddo jail suffer from an acute shortage of winter blankets and clothing.

According to the Commission, the number of prisoners in Megiddo jail have increased as a result of the escalating detention campaigns against the Palestinians, which prompted many inmates to share their clothes and blankets with those who were brought to the jail recently.

The Commission noted that the newly detained Palestinians in the jail are not allowed to see their families for several months and have only the prison attire which Israeli jailers give them after they are transferred to the prison sections from interrogation centers.

During a recent visit to the jail by a lawyer from the Commission, the Megiddo prisoners also complained of the poor infrastructure of the detention facility and the rainwater that enter their cells.
