A Palestinian prisoner serving a life sentence completed today 16 years behind Israeli prison bars, said the Palestinian prisoner society ( PPS).
Sami Jaradat , 49, from the village of Silat al- Harithiya, northwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, was arrested on October 22, 2003 and sentenced for life in prison for resisting the Israeli occupation.
He has been denied family visits several times and placed numerously in isolation as a means of punishment against him. Jaradat is suffering various health diseases, including high blood pressure, stomach pains and urinary problems resulting mainly from the Israeli policy of medical negligence, said the PPS.
