The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad confirmed that the recommendation of the Bundestag to criminalize the BDS movement as anti-Semitic is "a violation of humanitarian principles".
The spokesman for the conference, Dr. Ahmed Moheisen, told Al-Resala Net that it was a "dangerous precedent." "The German society will not let it pass," he said, referring to the control of the pro-Israel lobby over the strength of the German parties.
He stressed that the lobby took advantage of capital money and money from banks to feed its political and economic agenda and used it to pressure the political parties to promote the interests of the occupation.
He added that this decision was taken to silence the people and attack the principles of democracy and suppression of opinion, and exposes the false democracy in Europe."
Moheisen asked about,"The role of the Arab society in the West and specifically in Germany, in defending the Palestinian cause and the humanitarian principles that the resolution aims to represent by suppressing freedom of expression?"
The Palestinian ambassador in Germany issued a statement condemning the draft resolution, which won the approval of the German parties.
Moheisen called for the need to rise above all disputes and to activate the role of Palestinian diplomacy in all the capitals of the world in order to defend the right of the Palestinian people and to expose these measures that target them.
He also noted that the occupation cannot prevent participating in the boycott of Israeli products stating that, "This move hurt Israeli occupation deeply."
He added that "The boycott is progressing and the daily attacks on Jerusalem and Gaza are increasing day after day."
Revival of the Right of Return
In light of this, the Palestinian events organized in the Europe to commemorate the events of the 71st anniversary of the Nakba, noting that two rallies were organized in London and Berlin in which thousands participated.
He explained that the march in London marched from the headquarters of the BBC to the headquarters of the British Parliament where the leader of the British Labor Party, Jimmy Corbin delivered messages of solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and expressed his rejection of any solutions that would underestimate it .
“This is a significant development in Britain, the state that caused the loss of our land, is beginning to witness a rise in popular mobilization that rejects the occupation," he said.
He said that the demonstrators submitted a list of demands to the British Parliament including the need to recognize the Palestinian state. The protesters held up signs showing their rejection of the aggression and occupation and the Deal of the Century.
He praised the position of the Labor Party leader who clearly stated his party’s support for the Palestinian cause. He also pointed to the growing fear among the British ruling party to go to early elections for fear of the rise of the Labor Party who supports the Palestinians.
As to the events of Germany, he pointed out that the capital city of Berlin witnessed a demonstration and a rally organized by several German institutions with the participation of thousands and which included delivering several messages in German.
The city of Koblenz also witnessed demonstrations to revive the events of the Nakba, asserting that these events asserted the saying that, "The old die and the young will remember.” contrary to what Golda Meir once said, " The young will forget."
He referred to the conference of the Palestinians of Europe held last month in the Danish capital "Copenhagen", which stressed the Palestinians right of return and which thousands participated in.
In a related context, the former secretary of Fatah in Berlin stressed the need to reform the PLO in light of the weakness of its leadership and administration.
Moheisen pointed to the position of the Palestinian leadership who has cut the allocations of the two fronts of the PLO based on of its recent political positions, considering this step as "blackmail".
He considered that the PLO "Is no more than a name and a stamp on occasions". It has been conquered by the Palestinian Authority and has become part of it when, ideally, the PA should be part of the PLO, not the other way around.
