Hamas on Saturday denounced the failed assassination attempt that targeted the top Fatah official Ahmad Hillis in Gaza on Friday.
Hamas in an official statement condemned the shooting attack on Hillis's car in the central Gaza Strip on Friday evening.
It called on the Ministry of Interior to investigate the attack and take all necessary measures to maintain stability and security in the Gaza Strip.
Fatah announced on Friday evening that unknown gunmen opened fire at Hillis's car. Several bullets hit the car, but Hillis and his guards were unhurt.
Spokesman for the Hamas-run Ministry of Interior, Iyad al-Bozom, on Saturday said that two suspects believed to be involved in the failed assassination attempt were arrested.
