Israeli occupation troops kidnapped on Sunday morning three Palestinian schoolgirls from Betunia Primary School, west of Ramallah, in central West Bank.

After placing them in their armoured vehicle, the Israeli soldiers threatened to attack any person who approaches them after for help.

The Israeli occupation soldiers took the three girls, who are in sixth and seventh grades, to an unknown place.

In front of their schoolmates, the three girls were screaming and crying, while the Israeli occupation soldiers also terrified other school girls by threatening to kidnap them or shoot them if they did not leave the area.

Palestinian ministry of education denounced the kidnapping and described it as Israeli violation and military harassment against the schoolchildren.

Eyewitnesses said the three school girls were released after a while and they went home safely.

Israeli aggression against Palestinian children are deemed flagrant violations of the international law and human rights conventions.

Kidnapping school children is a violation to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, especially Article 16, which states that “no child shall be subjected to arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to unlawful attacks on his or her honour and reputation.”

The aforementioned convention also stipulates that “the child has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.”
