The United States will not pay $45 million in food aid for Palestinian refugees it pledged last month as part of West Bank/Gaza Emergency Appeal led by UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
US State Department had said on Tuesday that Washington would withhold a separate $65 million it had planned to pay the UN agency that serves the Palestinian refugees, who were displaced by Zionist Jewish gangs in 1948.
American administration had made clear to UNRWA that the $45 million was a pledge aimed at helping the agency with "forecasting," but it was not a guarantee, Spokeswoman of the US State Department Heather Nauert: told reporters at a regular State Department briefing.
She repeated the US view that UNRWA needs reform, but what kind of these reforms did she mean?
The US has been asking the UNRWA to change the textbooks taught at its schools.
America exactly wants the UNRWA to adopt the Israeli narrative about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is based on the claim that there had been no Palestine before the creation of the occupation state.
