Monitors and sources said that Abbas planned to dissolve the government months ago due to Palestinian protests against it as it has been unable to carry out its mission, mainly represented in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and lifting the eight-year Israeli siege.
Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have condemned the unilateral dissolution of the government, a decision they say they were not consulted over.
