“The Israeli court issued a four-month administrative detention order against lawmaker Kahlida Jarrar,” the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said in a statement.
“A court session will be held in three days to uphold the order,” it added, without stating the charges the lawmaker faces.
Jarrar, a lawmaker representing the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), was arrested Thursday after Israeli troops raided her house in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Israeli policy of “administrative detention” allows it to hold Palestinian prisoners indefinitely without trial or charge. Administrative detention orders can range from one to six months in length and can be extended by Israeli military courts by up to five years.
In August, an Israeli court issued a decision to expel Jarrar from Ramallah to the West Bank city of Jericho on grounds of posing a threat to Israeli public security.
Jarrar has repeatedly accused the Israeli occupation of waging war on the Palestinian people and killing innocent civilians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
More than 2,160 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed and nearly 11,000 others injured in a 51-day Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip last year.
