Days of Palestine, Gaza Strip –Mainstream media did much effort to undermine #AskHamas social media campaign as they ran tens of negative stories about it.
Starting the anti-AskHamas hashtag, Zionist websites posted stories almost under one headline –Hamas media campaign backfires with farce, abuse, insults, etc…
Washington Post copied the headline and argued that the campaign has really backfired. It mentioned quotes from Twitter accounts of ant-AskHamas hashtag, mainly the Zionist Jeffry Goldberg, who posted a piece of false information that went viral on Twitter.
Several famous news outlets around the world followed the footsteps of Washington Post and copied almost the same headline and the same content and even the same tweets by the same tweeters.
However, when anyone search for the hashtag #AskHamas, he will find a diversity of responses and questions related to the weeklong campaign planned to provide true information about Hamas though the mouths of its leaders. But, all those news outlets ignored this fact.
Anyway, the tweeters of the hashtag supporters and abusers helped to make it trending at first number two in the US, four in the UK and seven in Canada. At around 19:30 GMT, it trended number two globally.
Successful campaign
Alan Eddie, a UK social media expert, told Days of Palestine that trending high on Twitter it means that the campaign had succeeded.
Observing the first Q&A session, which started at 17:00 GMT by the female Hamas leader and MP Huda Naim, the number of positive users of the hashtag clearly crossed the number of the negative users.
Supposing that all the anti-AskHamas hashtag were busy to abuse Hamas and its campaign, Annie Ted, a supporter of the campaign from Canada, told Days of Palestine that “this is a huge success because the one who has nothing to do with the truth is the one who insults his opponent.”
#AskHamas was a brilliant move. Anyone reviewing the tweets will get the impression Zionists are immature, racist and obsessed with goats.

All in all, you can say that Hamas was successful to reach the decision makers reads and the concern of most major news outlets around the world ahead of the ruling of the EU court over the EU appeal against lifting it from the blacklisted terror groups.
‘Real questions’
Speaking to Huda Naim, who answered questions for the first session, she said: “We replied as many questions as we could in a three-hour session.”
About the sarcastic and abusive questions, she said: “We spend three hours only replying to the real questions. If we wanted to answer all the real questions, we would needed more than ten hours.”
