Days of Palestine, Cairo –The Egyptian authorities called on Saturday upon the Palestinians and the Israelis to renew ceasefire talks in Cairo.
In a statement, the Egyptian foreign ministry said: “Cairo is calling upon the meant sides to go for an open-ended permanent truce and resume indirect ceasefire talks.”
The statement was announced after a meeting between the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and the Egyptian Coup Leader Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi.
Earlier on Saturday, Abbas said that Cairo would call for the resumption of the ceasefire talks. “Hamas know that Egypt is the best broker for a ceasefire and no other party can do this job better than it,” he said.
For Hamas, it said that it accepts any efforts based on the demands of the Palestinian people.
Hamas Spokesman Sami abu-Zuhri said that his movement would accept the Egyptian call for the renewal of indirect talks, “but that must be built on the interests of our people.”
