DaysofPal- The Palestinian Government Media Office (GMO) reported that more than 900,000 residents remain steadfast in Gaza City, rejecting forced displacement despite the ongoing Israeli aerial bombardment and as “Israeli war crimes aimed at permanent expulsion.”
In a statement released Wednesday, the GMO stated that the Israeli occupation of misleading civilians with claims of humanitarian aid, including tents and basic services, which are largely absent on the ground.
According to the GMO, these measures are intended solely to coerce residents into abandoning their homes and neighborhoods.
The statement noted that since the start of the forced displacement campaign, approximately 335,000 Palestinians have fled their homes due to relentless bombing.
Over the past three days, the number of internally displaced persons has exceeded 60,000. Conversely, more than 24,000 people have returned to their original neighborhoods in Gaza City after attempting to relocate south, citing the lack of essential living conditions in those areas.
The Gaza neighborhoods of al-Mawasi in Khan Younis and Rafah, currently home to around one million people and promoted by Israeli occupation as “safe humanitarian zones,” have endured over 114 airstrikes, resulting in more than 2,000 casualties.
These areas reportedly lack hospitals, basic infrastructure, clean water, food, shelter, electricity, and educational facilities.
The office further highlighted that the territory designated by Israeli authorities for “refugee accommodation” covers only 12% of Gaza’s area, where more than 1.7 million people are being concentrated, effectively creating “concentration camps” as part of a systematic forced displacement strategy.
The statement condemned the ongoing Israeli displacement and alleged acts of genocide, criticizing the international community for its silence and failure to act.
The office placed full responsibility on the Israeli occupation and its strategic ally, the United States, as well as other states complicit in these actions, and called on the United Nations and international legal bodies to intervene, hold perpetrators accountable, and protect civilians’ right to remain on their land safely.
