DaysofPal- Gaza’s civil defense has raised alarms over Israeli plans to forcibly displace hundreds of thousands of residents from Gaza City and northern regions, compelling them to move to the central and southern parts of the region.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal cautioned that the Israeli strategy to forcibly displace nearly one million people from their homes in Gaza City and northern areas would lead to a severe humanitarian crisis.
Basal highlighted that the Israeli forces have already demolished more than 85% of homes and infrastructure in Gaza City’s ash-Shuja’iya and al-Tuffah neighborhoods and around 70 % in the az-Zeitoun, al-Sabra, Jabalia an-Nazla, and Jabalia al-Balad areas.
He further noted that various reports from international and UN organizations indicate that the designated “humanitarian zone,” where the Israeli forces plan to displace the population, constitutes only about 12% of the entire Gaza Strip area.
“This situation would necessitate cramming over two million Palestinians into an extremely overcrowded zone lacking basic living conditions,” he explained.
