DaysofPal- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced today a tragic deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where thousands of families have become trapped in less than one-fifth of the territory’s area due to the destruction of homes and infrastructure collapse.
The office stated that bombs and rockets continue to strike tents and displaced persons camps, resulting in casualties as people attempt to secure food for themselves and their families, highlighting the severe humanitarian suffering.
Officials also confirmed that aid workers, who continue to provide support under extremely difficult conditions, are themselves suffering from food and resource shortages, threatening the sustainability of their vital lifesaving work.
The office pointed out that repeated attacks on health facilities, especially hospitals and nearby clinics, are increasing pressure on the already strained health system, with severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies, worsening the health crisis and endangering patients’ lives.
The UN office renewed its appeal to the international community to protect civilians and healthcare workers and to respect international humanitarian law, ensuring that relief teams can carry out their tasks without threat or obstruction.
