DaysofPal- Nearly 4,000 Palestinians have either been killed or gone missing since the Israeli army launched a devastating offensive in northern Gaza two months ago, the Government Media Office (GMO) reported on Monday.
“Over 3,700 people were killed and 10,000 injured, while 1,750 others were detained in the ongoing Israeli aggression on northern Gaza,” the GMO said in a statement.
The statement accused Israeli forces of conducting an intensive and multifaceted assault by land, sea, and air targeting northern Gaza. Areas affected include Jabalia Camp, Jabalia Town, Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, and surrounding regions.
The GMO also noted the complete destruction of all hospitals in northern Gaza, rendering them non-operational. Civil defense teams have been targeted, with some members arrested. Additionally, critical infrastructure, including water and sewage systems, roads, and streets, has been obliterated, turning northern Gaza into a humanitarian catastrophe.
“North Gaza is a disaster zone in every sense of the word,” the office said.
The Israeli military has further exacerbated the suffering of Gaza’s civilian population by forcibly evacuating thousands of residents and then bombing entire neighborhoods.
The office reported that, according to witnesses, between 500 and 650 bodies have remained in the streets for two months due to Israeli restrictions preventing medical and rescue teams from reaching the areas. Stray animals have scavenged the remains, leaving unidentifiable bones scattered in the streets.
It condemned Israel for the “deliberate and systematic targeting of civilians, residential areas, and shelters,” accusing it of committing crimes against humanity. It was also mentioned that the already serious humanitarian situation in northern Gaza has been made worse by the blocking of more than 8,000 aid trucks.
The statement also criticized the ongoing campaign of violence, backed by the US, UK, Germany, and France, describing it as a coordinated effort of killing, destruction, and forced displacement.
The GMO urged the international community and global organizations to condemn the attacks and ensure the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza. It also held Israel and its allies accountable for the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians, especially in northern Gaza.
