DaysofPal— Palestinian sources have accused Nikolay Mladenov of exerting intense pressure on resistance factions in the Gaza Strip to push forward the Israeli-driven agendas, raising concerns over his intentions and role.
According to the sources, who spoke to Al-Araby TV on Thursday, Mladenov has been acting in ways inconsistent with his assigned position, attempting to impose conditions that could pave the way for further Israeli military war in Gaza.
They said that Mladenov has gone as far as linking the scale of humanitarian aid and other entitlements for Gaza to the acceptance of Israeli demands, effectively pressuring Palestinian factions into concessions across multiple issues.
Reports cited by local and international outlets indicate that Mladenov is promoting what he describes as a “new roadmap” for Gaza.
The initiative is presented as a mechanism to address delays in implementing the second phase of a ceasefire agreement and to prevent renewed Israeli genocide.
However, Palestinian factions have dismissed the proposal as a “deceptive plan” aimed at advancing Israeli objectives in the enclave.
According to the reports, the proposed plan includes 15 provisions combining security, political, and financial tracks, a structure that has fueled further skepticism about its intent.
Critics point to past controversies surrounding Mladenov’s tenure as the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process between 2015 and 2020, during which he faced accusations from Palestinian and Arab circles of aligning too closely with Israeli policies.
The sources also accused Mladenov of making misleading statements on humanitarian aid entering Gaza.
They noted that he claimed last month that around 600 aid trucks were entering the territory daily, a figure disputed by Gaza’s Government Media Office, which said only 207 trucks had entered on the same day.
The accusations come amid continued violations of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which took effect on October 10.
Palestinian officials report ongoing airstrikes, gunfire, home demolitions, and tight restrictions on border crossings and aid deliveries into Gaza.
