DayofPal– As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intensifies military attacks on Gaza, a newly revealed diplomatic effort suggests that the Trump administration had greenlit an Egyptian-led plan to end the war and rebuild the devastated enclave, according to reports from Maariv and Sky News.
The proposal, which has gained regional and international backing, aims to reconstruct Gaza without forcibly displacing its population. However, it comes with two key conditions: the removal of Hamas from power and the disarmament of the strip.
Sources indicate that the Trump administration granted initial approval, urging Netanyahu to consider the deal. The plan is set to be discussed at the end of March, with U.S. and Egyptian officials working to finalize the reconstruction timeline.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry formally introduced the initiative to over 100 foreign ambassadors and international organizations, emphasizing Palestinian leadership in the recovery process.
The plan also proposes the establishment of a non-partisan committee to manage Gaza’s transition, ensuring stability in the aftermath of war.
As momentum builds, Egypt is preparing a conference in Cairo to secure the necessary funding for the project. Simultaneously, a proposal to the UN Security Council seeks to establish an international presence in Gaza and the West Bank, potentially including peacekeeping forces, to oversee the path toward Palestinian statehood.
Despite these diplomatic efforts, Netanyahu’s government has pressed ahead with relentless military strikes, plunging Gaza deeper into devastation.
