DaysofPal—The Commissioner-General of the UN agency UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that the Israeli occupation has killed more than 800 starving Palestinians in Gaza by shooting them while they were trying to obtain a small amount of food.
In press remarks on Saturday, Lazzarini emphasized that “an effective system has been replaced with a deadly scam, aimed at forcing people to flee and deepening the collective punishment of Palestinians in Gaza.”
He pointed out that life-saving supplies are at risk of spoilage due to their nearing expiration, as over 6,000 UNRWA trucks loaded with food, medicine, and essential items have been waiting for more than four months for clearance to enter Gaza.
Lazzarini noted that allegations of aid being diverted to specific Palestinian factions have not been raised in official meetings, nor has any evidence been presented to support such claims.
He stressed the urgent need to allow the United Nations, including UNRWA, to carry out its duties in Gaza. He called for an immediate ceasefire, lifting of the blockade, and the release of detainees.
Earlier today, at least 27 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in a new Israeli massacre targeting people waiting for aid in northern Rafah, in southern Gaza.
Local and medical sources confirmed that Israeli forces opened fire and shelled the “Al-Shakoush” aid distribution area in northern Rafah, killing 27 people and wounding 180 others, some of whom are in critical condition according to doctors.
Video footage documented the bodies of the martyrs lying on the ground due to the lack of space, while dozens of injured people crowded the hospitals, which are already struggling with limited medical capacity, severe shortages of beds, and a lack of medical staff.
