In a recent phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi emphasized the urgent need for “effective, practical steps” to halt Israeli violations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Safadi underscored the importance of stopping all illegal Israeli actions in the region, particularly those that undermine the historical and legal status quo at Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
In addition, Safadi affirmed that Jordan is committed to taking all necessary measures to protect these sacred sites, including pursuing legal action in international courts.
He also described the attacks on these sites as a blatant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that Jordan is prepared to confront by all available means.
In response, Blinken reiterated the U.S. stance on the importance of respecting the historical status quo of the holy sites.
