The US Senator Elizabeth Warren believes that the International court of justice could find that Israel’s assault and military actions in Gaza may legally constitutes a genocide, becoming the first senator to say so.
“If you want to do it as an application of law, I believe that they’ll find that it is genocide, and they have ample evidence to do so,” the Massachusetts senator said while taking audience questions during an event at the Islamic Center of Boston.
Although she had pressed conditioning military aid to ‘Israel’, Warren recently said she would block the potential sale of F-15s to ‘lsrael’ after its military deliberately murdered seven World Central Kitchen aid workers while unloading aid trucks in Deir Al-Balah.
Last January, Warren also floated the idea of imposing restrictions on military aid to ‘Israel’, saying on X that the U.S. “cannot write a blank check for a right-wing government that’s demonstrated an appalling disregard for Palestinian lives.”
Some days ago, 36 congressional Democrats, including representative Nancy Pelosi, the former House speaker and a key Joe Biden ally, have urged a halt to weapons transfers to ‘Israel’ in a letter to the president Joe Biden and the secretary of state Antony Blinken.
“In light of the recent strike against aid workers and the ever-worsening humanitarian crisis, we believe it is unjustifiable to approve these weapons transfers,” the letter said.
Among the new Democrats to sign the letter – which was notably backed by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – include Rep. Rosa DeLauro, the top Democrat on the significant House Appropriations Committee, and Rep. Jamie Raskin alongside key Biden allies like Reps. Ro Khanna and Bennie Thompson.
