DayofPal—Israeli forces have carried out a series of demolitions and raids across the occupied West Bank, targeting infrastructure in Jenin and a residential home north of Hebron, according to Palestinian officials and local media.
In Jenin, Israeli troops accompanied by military bulldozers stormed Haifa Street in the western part of the city, demolishing roads and public infrastructure.
Al Jazeera reported that the operation coincided with the first anniversary of Israel’s large-scale invasion of the Jenin refugee camp and surrounding neighbourhoods, which displaced thousands of Palestinians.
Jenin Governor Kamal Abu Al-Rub said that Israeli authorities have extended the military operation in Jenin and its refugee camp until March.
He said the operation lacks military justification and has significantly worsened the humanitarian conditions for residents.
Palestinian news agency Wafa also reported that Israeli forces conducted additional raids in Silat Al-Harithiya, west of Jenin, where several homes were searched, as well as in towns south of the city.
Separately, Israeli troops demolished a multi-storey Palestinian home in the town of Halhul, north of Hebron.
The Israeli military released footage showing soldiers wiring the house with explosives before detonating it.
According to Wafa, troops stormed the area in the early morning hours, forced residents to evacuate, and barred them from approaching the property. Videos circulating on social media showed families leaving the neighbourhood in darkness.
The demolished home belonged to Mahmoud Abed, who was shot dead by Israeli forces last year along with another Palestinian following an attack on the Gush Etzion settlement south of Bethlehem in July. Israeli media reported that the attack resulted in the death of an Israeli settler.
Israeli authorities frequently carry out home demolitions and infrastructure destruction in the occupied West Bank, citing security reasons, a practice that human rights groups say amounts to collective punishment and contributes to widespread displacement among Palestinians.
