Protected by Israeli occupation forces, extremist Israeli settlers attacked Wednesday, June 28, 2023, Palestinian citizens in Masafer Yatta town in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
Local Palestinian sources reported that Israeli settlers from the “Mitzpe Yair” and “Sons of Jacob Dalia” settlements attacked the citizens in the village of Um Al-Akhous in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron after the citizens confronted the settlers’ attempt to build tents on their lands under Israeli forces’ protection.
The coordinator of the Palestinian Popular Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlements in southern Hebron, Ratib Al-Jabour, said that the Israeli forces detained four Palestinian brothers, namely Ibrahim Abu Sabha, Mohammad Abu Sabha, Mahmoud Abu Sabha, and Youssef Abu Sabha, and three foreign activists after they confronted the settlers’ storming.
Dozens of Palestinian citizens have been injured due to Israeli colonizers’ attack on them.
On June 23, the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” stated that the Israeli occupation government and army are directly responsible for the Israeli settlers’ attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Moreover, extremist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich rushed to defend them.
Smotrich indirectly justified the Israeli settlers’ attack on the Palestinian village of “Umm Safa” on June 22, claiming that some Palestinian villagers participated in attacks against settlers.
