DaysofPal- The Israeli occupation forces escalated their violations of the Gaza ceasefire on Saturday, the 274th day since the agreement took effect, carrying out a series of demolition operations and heavy gunfire targeting areas east of Khan Younis and Gaza City.
Local sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces carried out four successive demolition operations in the eastern areas of Khan Younis, while tanks fired heavy fire toward the area.
The sources said an Israeli quadcopter drone also dropped explosive devices north of the Bani Suheila roundabout, east of Khan Younis, as Israeli tanks continued intensive shelling and gunfire targeting the eastern outskirts of both Khan Younis and Gaza City.
In eastern Gaza City, Israeli military vehicles intensified gunfire around Al-Hashimiya School and Al-Mahatta Park in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood. Quadcopter drones also targeted residential homes near Salah al-Din Street in the Shujaiya and Al-Tuffah neighborhoods.
Local sources further reported that Israeli drones continued flying over several areas of the Gaza Strip while military operations remained ongoing.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said the death toll since a ceasefire came into effect on October 10 last year had risen to 1,094, with 3,507 people injured. The ministry also reported the recovery of 799 bodies during the same period.
Since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal campaign on October 7, 2023, the overall death toll in Gaza has reached approximately 73,120, with 173,635 people injured, according to the ministry. It added that about 90 percent of the Gaza Strip’s infrastructure has been destroyed during the war.
