Three Palestinian administrative detainees continued Wednesday, June 28, 2023, their open hunger strike in Israeli prisons for the eleventh day in a row, rejecting their administrative detention.
The hunger strikers are Anas Ibrahim Shadid, 26, lawyer Mahmoud Abdel Halim Talahma, 32, and Abdullah Mohammad Abido, 36.
The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated that the prisoner Shadid was detained three times before, all of which were administrative detentions, and he went on two hunger strikes, the first lasted 90 days and the second lasted 25 days.
The prisoner Talahama is a lawyer and an ex-detainee who spent two and a half years in Israeli prisons and he is now serving 6 months of administrative detention. Talahama is married and a father of two children.
The detainee Abido is also an ex-detainee who spent 5 and a half years in the occupation prisons, most of which were under administrative detention Israeli forces redetained him in May 2023. Abido is married and the father of five children.
The three prisoners started their hunger strike days ago, in refusal of the Israeli crime of administrative detention that have been escalating since last year.
It’s noteworthy that the Israeli occupation administratively detains 1082 Palestinians, including 17 children.
