Israeli Occupation to Build 1248 Settlement Units in West Bank, Jerusalem

An Israeli institution revealed, on Friday, June 24, that the construction of settlements built on Palestinian land increased by 62 percent during the period of Naftali Bennett’s government.

The Peace Now Foundation said, in a report published on its website, that the construction of new settlement units inside the Palestinian territories (the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem) jumped 62 percent during the period of the Bennett-Lapid ‘government’, compared to the previous government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.  Making it as they described “The government of unequivocal annexation”

The human rights organization report stated that the rate of demolitions of Palestinian homes and property increased by 35 percent during the period of the Bennett-Lapid ‘government’, compared to the ‘government’ that preceded it. – Lapid.

Adding that the Bennett-Lapid ‘government’ has promoted a number of catastrophic strategic plans, which are particularly harmful to the opportunity for Palestinian development and continuity, the ‘two-state solution’, and reaching a political agreement.

Prime Minister Bennett and Alternative Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Lapid announced last Monday evening their agreement to dissolve the Knesset and appoint the latter as prime minister of an interim ‘government, during a transitional period that ends with early elections “after attempts to stabilise the coalition had been exhausted,” according to a short statement from the prime minister’s office.

On Wednesday, the Israeli Knesset began voting to dissolve the Knesset, as part of a process that may take until next Monday, during which the date of early elections will be set.

At present, based on the result of numerous UN resolutions that cite Article 49 of the Geneva Convention, the consensus view of the international community is that Israeli settlements are illegal and constitute a violation of international law.[1][2][3][l][m] According to the BBC, as of 2008 every government in the world, except Israel, considered the settlements to be illegal.
