Israeli Occupation to Settle 25K Israeli Settlers in Silwan

Israeli Occupation to Settle 25K Israeli Settlers in Silwan
M.S | DOP -

The Israeli occupation government is working on a plan to settle 25,000 Israeli settlers in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, until 2030.

The Israeli settlement associations, especially Elad and Ateret Cohanim, seek by all means to settle Israeli settlers and strengthen the Israeli presence in the town, in return for reducing the Palestinian presence in it.

On the other hand, the Palestinians continue to fight in order to preserve their original Palestinian town, despite the escalating Israeli attacks and measures, and the demolitions and evictions that affect their neighborhoods.

The Israeli occupation seized 22% of Palestinians’ lands in Silwan, which is 5,640 dunums, with the aim of settlement and Judaization, by claiming that they are “absentee property” and historical sites.

There are 3,000 Israeli settlers live in 87 illegal settlement outposts inside Silwan, and the occupation is still continuing his efforts to settle the largest possible number of settlers there.

Since assuming his position as Israeli Minister of National Security, Ben Gvir has escalated his war against Palestinian homes and facilities in the Holy City, by issuing decisions to demolish dozens of Palestinian homes.

As well, the Israeli occupation forces handed over 6,500 administrative and judicial demolition orders for houses in the Silwan neighborhoods, under the pretext of building without a permit, and these orders are still valid.
