“The house was demolished before our eyes. Our fatigue throughout the year turned into rubble in minutes,” this is how the Palestinian family of Aida described the moment when Israeli occupation bulldozers demolished their house in the occupied West Bank village of Beit Anun area, east of Hebron without prior warning on Monday, 10 October 2022.
The Palestinian man Hisham Eida, owner of the house, along with his wife, son, and four of his grandchildren refused to leave the house in a desperate attempt to prevent its demolition, but ” by the end, my hands are tied”, said Hisham.
Local Sources reported that dozens of Israeli occupation military troops baked by bulldozers raided Eida’s family home and assaulted the family members including a woman and children. IOF expelled the family members from the house before the demolition began in front of their eyes.
Hisham added that the demolition was not preceded by any prior warning as the Israeli occupation forces gave the family a few minutes to empty the house of the newly purchased furniture that they did not finish paying for it yet.
Aida noted that the Israeli occupation court’s decision to demolish the house was issued at eight in the morning and he was not informed of it until the moment the house was stormed by the Israeli forces in preparation to demolish it only two hours after the decision was issued.
Israeli occupation is trying in various ways to forcibly displace Palestinians from their own lands and demolish their homes in favor of settlement expansion using pretexts most notably building without a permit.
In a related incident, Israeli occupation troops raided the Theeb Palestinian family house and flattened it to the ground despite an Israeli court order prohibiting its demolition.
Palestinian child of Theeb family was injured and taken to the hospital after being brutally assaulted by Israeli occupation forces to force him to leave his home as he insisted on staying to prevent its demolition.
“This is not the first time that Israeli occupation demolishes our homes and destroys our property and it will not be the last, but we will continue to build whenever they are demolished.”, Theeb added
During the first five months of 2022, Israeli occupation demolished 300 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, according to the United Nations Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA).
The organization explained that most of the demolitions were carried out under the pretext of lacking a building permit, noting that “it is almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain such or that permit.”
Since the beginning of October, the Israeli occupation has demolished seven Palestinian-owned homes and notified the demolition of eight others in Hebron city, southern occupied West Bank.
