DaysofPal- Israeli Knesset is preparing for a final vote on a controversial bill that would allow the execution of prisoners.
The proposed legislation is expected to be voted on by the Knesset’s National Security Committee, chaired by lawmaker Zvika Fogel, before advancing to its second and third readings, a critical stage in the legislative process.
If approved, the bill could be brought for a final vote in the full Knesset as early as next Monday.
The bill had previously passed its first reading in November, after which it underwent a series of amendments during committee discussions.
Among the changes were the removal of a clause mandating automatic death sentences and the elimination of a provision that would have barred the possibility of pardon entirely.
Sources familiar with the process say intensive efforts are underway to secure a clear majority in favor of the bill, with backing sought from both coalition and opposition members.
The governing coalition is reportedly pushing to fast-track the legislation despite expectations of significant public debate within the Israeli occupation.
The proposal was introduced by Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech and has gained notable traction in Israeli political circles.
It is being strongly supported by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Recent media reports also indicate that Israeli prison forces have begun preparing a comprehensive plan for implementing the death penalty against Palestinian prisoners, following the bill’s earlier approval stage.
