DaysofPal- Gaza’s Government Media Office announced Thursday that the ongoing Israeli genocidal war has destroyed an estimated 268,000 homes, rendering around 288,000 Palestinian families homeless and triggering a catastrophic housing crisis.
According to UNRWA, nearly all of Gaza’s population has been displaced at least once since the war began. Many families who tried to return home after the ceasefire discovered that their neighborhoods had been completely leveled.
Citing satellite imagery from the UN Satellite Centre, UNRWA reported that approximately 81 percent of all structures in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed, a stark indicator of the scale of destruction caused by the months-long Israeli bombardment.
The attacks have flattened residential buildings, hospitals, and water infrastructure, leaving much of Gaza’s essential services in ruins.
Despite the declared ceasefire, the Israeli occupation continues to impose a crippling blockade, keeping border crossings shut and preventing the entry of vital humanitarian supplies and reconstruction materials.
The Gaza Health Ministry says that more than 68,875 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, with another 10,000 people still missing and presumed dead.
Officials also reported that the Israeli occupation has committed over 200 ceasefire violations since the truce took effect on October 10.
