DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces carried out the demolition of residential buildings in the Gaza Strip early Wednesday, alongside artillery shelling that struck several areas in both the northern and southern parts of the enclave, in a continuation of aggression despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
A local source reported that Israeli forces demolished residential structures east of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, while artillery fire targeted areas east of Khan Younis in the south and the surroundings of Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. An Israeli helicopter also opened fire toward the Deir al-Balah area in the central part of the Strip. In addition, Israeli artillery shelled the western neighborhoods of Rafah in southern Gaza.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces had already demolished residential buildings within areas under their deployment southeast of Khan Younis, as part of repeated operations that have affected entire residential blocks.
In a related development, Hamas issued a statement documenting Israeli violations during the first 100 days following the announcement of the ceasefire agreement. According to the statement, 483 Palestinians were killed during this period, including 169 children and 64 women. The group said that 1,294 people were injured, averaging 13 injuries per day, and noted that 96.3 percent of those killed were targeted within the so-called “yellow line” zone.
The statement further reported 1,298 Israeli violations, averaging 13 field- and fire-related incidents per day. It also cited 200 demolitions and explosions of homes and residential blocks within the yellow line zone, as well as the detention of 50 civilians, including fishermen at sea, which Hamas described as a serious breach of the ceasefire agreement.
Separately, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said the movement had provided all available information regarding the remains of the last Israeli captive and had cooperated positively with search efforts.
He stated that Israeli forces repeatedly obstructed search operations in areas beyond the yellow line, while reaffirming Hamas’s readiness to work with mediators and guarantor states to resolve.
On the humanitarian front, Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced the death of a six-month-old infant due to extreme cold, raising the number of children who have died from cold-related causes since the start of winter to nine. The ministry said displaced families are facing dire conditions due to the lack of adequate shelter and heating, compounded by severe restrictions on the entry of essential supplies.
In the meantime, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, the director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, reported that the widespread spread of influenza and its variations was causing deaths in a number of age groups, including young people.
He attributed this to the severe decline in public immunity caused by harsh living conditions, warning of a critical shortage of medicines and medical supplies, including the complete depletion of cancer drugs, dialysis supplies, and treatments for chronic diseases.
