DaysofPal – The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that one Palestinian fatality was transferred to hospitals in the Strip over the past 24 hours, along with seven people wounded by ongoing hostilities.
According to the ministry, the cumulative toll since the outbreak of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 71,551 fatalities and 171,372 injuries. It noted that a number of victims remain trapped under rubble or lying in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews are still unable to reach many affected areas.
The ministry further reported that since the ceasefire came into effect on October 11, Israeli violations have resulted in 466 fatalities and 1,294 injuries. During the same period, rescue teams recovered the bodies of 713 individuals who had previously been reported missing under the debris.
In a related development, the ministry confirmed the death of six-month-old infant Shatha Abu Jarad due to extreme cold, bringing the number of children who have died from severe weather conditions since the start of the current winter to nine.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by the United States and European countries, has carried out a campaign in the Gaza Strip marked by widespread killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrests, according to Palestinian officials. These actions have continued despite international appeals and rulings by the International Court of Justice calling for an end to the violence.
The ongoing genocide left more than 242,000 Palestinians either killed or injured, the majority of them women and children, in addition to over 11,000 people still missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, while famine has claimed numerous lives, particularly among children. Vast areas of Gaza have also been devastated, with much of the territory’s cities and neighborhoods reduced to ruins.
