Israeli occupation forces Compelled Sunday, 22 January 2023 a Jerusalemite resident to self-demolish his house in the occupied Jerusalem town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Local media sources reported that Israeli military forces Compelled the Palestinian man Muhammad Al-Awar to self-demolish his home under the pretext of building without a permit.

Witnesses reported that Mohammad Aawar, owner of the house, proceeded to demolish his house to avoid paying exorbitant fees to the Israeli occupation municipality in case its crews carry out the demolition.

 

Israeli occupation notified the demolition of the Al-Awar house where the family live since 2015 many times. It’s worth noting that he resorted to the judicial authorities and paid large fines to prevent the demolition order from being implemented.

Israeli occupation escalated the demolition orders against the Palestinian homes and properties in the towns and villages in occupied Jerusalem, aiming to force the Palestinian residents to leave their own lands under the pretext of building without a permit.

In 2022, Israeli occupation forces forcibly demolished more than 209 inhabited Palestinain facilities in various areas of occuiped Jerusalem. Israeli occupation also confiscated a number of Palestinian-owned lands and properties in favor of Israeli settlers’ expansion most notably the land of Hamra in the Silwan neighborhood.
