DayofPal– The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has reported that the Israeli army is using explosive-laden robots, carrying tons of explosives, in its extensive military operations of destruction and killing in northern Gaza, continuing its assault for the ninth consecutive day.
This marks a disturbing escalation of genocide against the Palestinians, characterized by massacres, targeted killings, widespread starvation, and forced displacement on a large scale.
The Euro-Med clarified that the Israeli army has completely isolated the northern Gaza Governorate from the city of Gaza by deploying vehicles, erecting sand barriers, and using debris from destroyed homes, all while maintaining heavy fire support from drones.
Numerous testimonies from Jabalia Camp document the Israeli army’s use of explosive-laden robots, saying they are being detonated remotely, causing extensive damages to homes and surrounding buildings, and claiming the lives of dozens of residents.
Meanwhile, emergency medical teams and civil defense operations have nearly ground to a halt, with only limited activity occurring in certain neighborhoods.
According to the Euro-Med, Israel’s use of explosive-laden robots is prohibited under international law, as these devices are deemed indiscriminate weapons that cannot be directed solely at military targets.
Due to their nature, the robots directly harm civilian populations or randomly strike both military and civilian sites without distinction. Consequently, their use in residential areas constitutes a crime against international law in and of itself.
A person trapped in Jabalia’s neighborhood of Al-Qasasib told the Euro-Med that “On the evening of Wednesday, October 9, there was a massive explosion in the Al-Qasasib neighborhood close to where we were. The sound of the explosion was incredibly powerful; I’ve never heard anything like it before. We can usually distinguish between the sounds of explosions… But this explosion was several times louder than any airstrike, and a thick cloud of white dust enveloped the entire area.”
“Later, we learned that this explosion was caused by a robot loaded with tons of explosives, which destroyed about 6 or 7 houses at once. The occupation army detonated the robot among the homes without knowing if civilians were inside or not.”
Another witness trapped in Al-Faluja area recounted: “There have been massive explosions in the area where we are surrounded, near Al-Sharafi Roundabout; their nature is unidentifiable.”
He added that over 50 people are currently trapped in a house, with three of them injured, yet they are unable to transport them to the hospital.
The Euro-Med field team documented the Israeli army detonating two more robots in the Al-Tawam area and in the Al-Zahra neighborhood adjacent to the civil defense center west of Jabalia Camp.
Additionally, another robot was exploded near the Abu Ali Mustafa intersection in Bir Al-Najjah in the western parts of Jabalia Camp.
The Israeli army first began using these robots in Gaza last May during the second incursion into Jabalia Camp. This claimed the lives of several civilians and destroyed numerous homes in the camp.
By the end of May, images emerged from the Tamraz Station area in the heart of Jabalia Camp, showcasing two explosive-laden robots ready for detonation.
