Ronen Hoffman, who was chosen by ex–premier Yair Lapid to be the Israeli Ambassador to Canada, declared on Saturday that he intends to step down from his job this summer, due to his dedication to personal and professional standards against Netanyahu’s new far-right government
After sending a written statement that acknowledged the new government‘s policies and the fact that Hoffman‘s position was a political appointment, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen accepted Hoffman‘s resignation from his post.
Approximately 21 days ago, Yael German, the Israeli ambassador to France, delivered an impassioned resignation letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, cautioning that the upcoming government could jeopardize the identity and principles of the “State of Israel.”
German declared that Netanyahu‘s government consists of parties with extreme perspectives which are mirrored in the coalition guidelines, their agendas, and their declarations regarding implementing legislation that, in German‘s opinion, is not acceptable.
