Israeli airstrikes have obliterated 38 ready-mixed concrete factories in the Gaza Strip, decimating their contents and rendering their owners incapable of rebuilding. Following the airstrikes, Israeli soldiers used bulldozers to further demolish the facilities and then set them ablaze.
One factory owner, speaking to Quds Press, expressed the profound challenges faced by the industry. “Every piece of equipment represents a significant challenge for us. We had already faced difficulties from Israel in obtaining the necessary materials to set up these factories, and the response process was agonizingly slow.”
The financial implications are staggering. “Our estimates indicate that establishing one factory costs between $1-3 million, depending on its operational capacity and the cost of purchasing the necessary equipment,” the owner explained.
Each of the destroyed factories employed over 100 workers and technicians. The destruction has left thousands of Palestinians without the income they relied on to survive, exacerbating the already dire economic situation in Gaza.
