DaysofPal – The Israeli occupation army announced on Wednesday that it had resumed enforcement of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, shortly after carrying out a wave of deadly airstrikes across the enclave that killed more than 100 Palestinians, including dozens of children and women.
In a statement posted on X, the Israeli army said it had conducted strikes against “more than 30 terrorists in command positions” within what it described as “terror organisations” in Gaza.
The army claimed the attacks were a response to an alleged ceasefire violation by Hamas, adding that it would “continue to enforce the agreement and respond forcefully to any violation.”
Residents of Gaza endured a night of intense bombardment, with Israeli warplanes striking multiple residential areas in Gaza City and a school sheltering displaced families in Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Strip. The attacks, which began late Tuesday and continued into Wednesday morning, left widespread destruction before the Israeli army announced at 10:00 a.m. that the ceasefire was once again being reinstated.
The Israeli army, meanwhile, confirmed the death of one of its reserve soldiers in the Gaza Strip following an attack on a military unit in Rafah on Tuesday.
An Israeli Broadcasting Corporation report claimed that unidentified gunmen had opened anti-tank and sniper fire at Israeli troops in Rafah. Hamas denied any involvement, insisting it remains committed to the ceasefire and accusing Israel of using the incident as an excuse to resume military aggression.
A senior Hamas source said Israel was “obstructing investigations” and spreading “false claims” about the resistance to justify renewed attacks. The source called on mediators, including Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey,to intervene immediately to stop Israel’s violations and compel it to abide by the terms of the ceasefire.
