DaysofPal — The Israeli occupation military issued mass evacuation orders on Sunday, May 29, 2025, warning residents in several crowded neighborhoods of northern Gaza of impending intensified assaults, in what rights groups denounce as another wave of forced displacement under ongoing Israeli attacks.
The occupation army spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced that at least 17 areas — including eastern Zeitoun, Tuffah, Daraj, the Old City, Sabra, Jabalia al-Balad, Jabalia Camp, and Tel al-Zaatar — must “immediately evacuate south to the Al-Mawasi area” or face deadly consequences. The statement warned that military operations would escalate and expand westward into central Gaza City.
The announcement has been condemned by human rights organizations and Palestinian officials, who describe such evacuation orders as a form of collective punishment and a component of Israel’s continued genocidal campaign in Gaza.
More than 60 Palestinians were killed across the enclave on Saturday alone, adding to a death toll that now exceeds 56,000 since the start of the Israeli onslaught in October 2023 — the majority of them women and children.
Despite mounting international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has pressed ahead with its relentless offensive, targeting residential areas and critical infrastructure.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
Israel also stands trial at the International Court of Justice, facing accusations of genocide for its ongoing military operations and the devastating humanitarian toll inflicted on the enclave’s population.
