DaysofPal- At least 410 Palestinians were killed, and 562 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, breaking a ceasefire that had lasted nearly two months, according to the Health Ministry.
“Many victims are still under the rubble, and efforts are underway to recover them,” the ministry stated.
The Israeli army confirmed conducting airstrikes in Gaza, the largest since the ceasefire with Hamas, which had been in place since January 19.
The Gaza Government Media Office reported that entire families were among the casualties, killed together in the Israeli attacks, and noted that ambulances and civil defense teams were unable to transport all the victims to hospitals.
“These brutal massacres confirm once again that the Israeli occupation army only knows the language of killing, destruction, and genocide,” the office said.
It also pointed out that the resumption of attacks comes alongside the ongoing siege of Gaza and the complete closure of crossings, worsening the humanitarian crisis and depriving over 2.4 million Palestinians of essential supplies.
The media office called on the international community, including the UN Security Council and human rights organizations, to break the current inaction and take immediate steps to end these attacks in Gaza.
Earlier, the Israeli army stated that the airstrikes targeted Hamas sites in the Strip “to achieve the objectives of the war, as determined by the political echelon, including the release of all of our hostages, both living and deceased.”
In response, Hamas declared that the Israeli government had effectively declared war on Gaza by breaking the ceasefire. “We demand that the mediators hold Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Zionist occupation fully responsible for violating and overturning the agreement,” a Hamas spokesperson said.
Despite the ceasefire, local authorities in Gaza reported almost daily violations by the Israeli army.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 48,500 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, and left Gaza in ruins.
