Irish ME: EU Is Shamefully Sitting on Its Hands, Doing Nothing to Sanction Israel

Af.M | DOP -

The Irish European Parliament member Billy Kelleher strongly condemned the EU’s complicity in Israeli occupation abuses against the Palestinian people during a special session of the Parliament.

“We sent no singles to Israel that we condemn what they are doing”. Kelleher said referring to crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinians.

He added,” Israel has consistently and systematically dismantled the Palestinian state. We should insist that there is no further occupation of the Palestinian state”.

Kelleher criticized the role of the EU that empowering Israeli illegal settlements, saying” We have occupied territories where we import products from and we have done nothing, nothing to condemn. We have not as much as sanctioned them in any way.”

He asserted that even the two-state solution is no longer a viable choice for the Palestinian people as Israeli occupation is systematically dismantling the Palestinain state.

Since the appointment of the new far-right Israeli government, Palestinians have been subjected to escalated racist measures adopted by Netanyahu’s fanatics ministers and Israeli forces.

These measures included filed executions, home demolitions, and suppressive measures against Palestinain detainees.

According to Palestinian figures, Israeli forces and settlers killed more Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem in 2023 than in any single calendar year since the Second Intifada.

88 Palestinian people were killed in Israeli attacks across the occupied Palestinian lands, including 17 children and 2 women.

During the first three months of 2023, Israeli occupation demolished 275 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, according to the United Nations Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA).

The far-right security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered the Israeli prisoners services (IPS) to take more punitive measures against Palestinian prisoners. The measures included controlling the amount of water used in the jails and reducing bathroom access.
