DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) municipality officials forced a Jerusalemite resident to demolish his own home by hand in the Jabal al-Mukaber town southeast of occupied East Jerusalem.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Samir Aliyan Arar was compelled to raze his home on Friday following a demolition order from the Israeli municipality, citing unpermitted construction.
The 80-square-meter house, built in 2018 and home to seven family members, was hit with building violations totaling around 100,000 shekels.
Arar stated he submitted organizational plans for the building in 2014 at the municipality’s request, hiring lawyers and engineers to follow up, but received violations that year worth approximately 80000 and 17500 shekels, which he is still paying off until the end of 2027.
Israeli municipality teams raided the home on January 26, 2026, giving him 21 days to execute the demolition order; unable to afford the costs if carried out by officials, Arar demolished it himself.
