The Palestinian citizen Rani Naser started demolishing his house on Tuesday morning in Al-Tirah city in the 1948-occupied lands after several attempts to stop the Israeli demolition order have failed.
“I was forced to self-demolish my house to avoid heavy fines,” Naser said, adding that the Israeli occupation municipality had permitted them to build in the area.
Israel stepped up its demolition of Palestinian homes under the pretext of building without permits in 2022. Palestinian homeowners are threatened with heavy fines if they refuse to self-demolish their own homes.
